Stolen Car
Our car was stolen. Our family car - the car that my husband bought just before we were married. The hybrid that we were driving when people didn’t know what a hybrid really was, constantly explaining how it worked. We drove to our first apartment we lived in together in that car. We drove to the hospital and brought our daughter home in that car. So many long car trips in that car. The car...
Yuck
What do I get for watering garden? Try 14 mosquito bites. In 5 minutes.
Not so bad actually.
Reviews received. They say: Major revisions requested. That means please change it - based on what we told you here in these 6 pages of comments, but you can send it back.
I always seem to write papers that require 6 pages of notes from reviewers to fix.
But I didn’t cry…So there’s that.
U2-charist?
We went to a little Irish festival on sunday. Well, we went to a GIANT Irish festival on Sunday. In the morning, there were about 10 different church services - all in little pavilions or tents - straight up revival style. As we were walking past the churcheys, we heard:
“In the name of love - one night in the name of love!”
So. If you love Jesus, but REALLY love U2, apparently...
Biscuits!
Visiting my sister in Hershey Park, we got the craving for biscuits. I realized I’d never written down the biscuit recipe anywhere. Here goes!

1 tbs sugar
1 tsp salt

1/4 stick butter (melted)
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup milk (or soy, plus more if needed)

Think about it
I think things through. I think things through to the point of ridiculousness. I think them through so much that it takes a lot to get me to actually act on them - I’m not through thinking about them yet. Then, somehow, though I have thought about something 200 ways, I always miss something. I plan for every possible contingency, but never for the one that actually happens.
Or I decide to...

Why not me?
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about perception and expectation. In psychology, there’s a term called “Impostor Syndrome” - it’s the feeling that you have no idea what you are doing, and that someone is going to catch you and call you out and say “hey you! You don’t know any better than I do!”. This is a fear that I suffer from daily. Hourly,...

Manuscript review is complete
My ego is about to get blasted and, honestly, I don’t know if I can take it. I shouldn’t take it personally but I know I’m going to. I just hope it will make me work harder instead of just depressing me. Please let me finish this one.

Losing it?
Yesterday I left my phone at home. Then proceeded to leave my keys behind when I stopped for a coffee. Did I remember? No - not until I tried to go home. Then today, I walked out the door without my yoga mat, briefly left my phone in the car, tracked down my keys and then spent the day trying to make some numbers line up in some matrix algebra equations and they kept refusing. This, of course,...
Overcompensation
When I go about 4 months without mopping the floor, I find myself on hands and knees with a wet rag scrubbing the floor - at midnight. Typical.
